I decided to start my piano lesson next Thursday. W and P’s mom will be my teacher. I told her that I will only take 30 minute lesson per month. J’s mom and I also will learn foot reflexology from her too. After retiring last November, I have been concentrating on your wedding preparation. I did not feel anything different. After your wedding, I suddenly felt so empty and lonely. Maybe piano lesson and foot reflexology will make me busy for a while.

advice from mom: tall and short doctors
to my sister:
Do you remember your pediatrician, Dr. H? Her daughter is a gynecologist. She is short, small and very cute. Whether you are tall or short should not have any impact on the ability to be a doctor. Several interns with Dr. L are short too.
guilt trip
Please throw away the food I sent to you. Even I spent $30 shipping cost for each package. I will make another New Year cake this weekend. Since the package always takes extra day or two to get to your place, I will try to see whether I can send food out with dry ice.

The unemployment rate in California just hit 9.3% in December. The forecasts I read this morning from the semiconductor equipment manufacturers are at historical low. They predict 50% drop in demand for 2009 and no recoveries for the next 4 to 5 years. Since the majority of the semiconductor production were moved overseas during past decade, this sector provides one of the most important incomes for Silicon valley. These dim forecasts point to even higher unemployment rate in the next couple years.
One of the bad thing resulted from the high unemployment is higher crime rate. So I would like you to pay more attention on your safety precaution. DO not go out at night, especially alone by yourself. Park your car in bright and safe area only. Bring your cell phone with you all the time.
